Notes on Geoge Wicker Scott,
died 1902: The name was spelled as GEORGE W SCOTT when he was born
in Alburg, Vermont. Son of George SCUTT (SCOTT)
and Mehitable. His youth activities were unknown.
George W. Scutt was married to ELIZABETH on
January 19,1851 Redford, Clinton County, New York by
Rev. R. Wescott. They had five children:
Charlotte E born February 16, 1852
Mary E. born March 27, 1858
Carrie C, born September 6, 1860
George enlisted as private (recruit) Co. C, 16th Regiment
New York Cavalry (Civil War) at Plattsburgh, New York September
1, 1864, On the copy of Muster and Descriptive Roll, his age was
35 occupation was farmer; grey eye, auburn hair, dark complexion,
and height 5 ft. 6~ in. Commanded by Captain Snyder. George
mustered into the service for the term of one year.
From the military record his roll report that he was
turned over to Gene Rendagvous Hart Island, New York Harbor
September 8, 1864. september Igth Recruit from depot, in
Annandale, Virginia. Company was in action at Annandale, Va.
October 17th, 1864. He was missing in action at Pairfax Court
House Road, Virginia. He was captured at Allendale Oct. 1864.
Confined at Richmond, Virginia October 22, 1864. Paroled st
Cores Wharf, Virginia February 5, 1865. Reported at camp,
parole, Maryland February 1~, 1865. Furloughed February 17,
1865 for 30 days. Extended on Surgeon Certificate dated
March 18, 1865 at Saranac, New York. (See attached copies)
George's names appeared as Rob Scott, George Scott, George W.
Scutt and 0. Scutt. When he returned to Camp Parole and
remained there until he was discharged disability for his
treatment of acute edacarditis June 29, 1865.
Since he left the service, he had resided in Saranac,
Clinton County, New York and his occupation was farm laborer.

Ulysses S. born October 26, 1867
Sarah E. born July 2, 1871
From Pension Records stated that George W. Scutt had
claimed Invalid Pension on December Igth 1879 at age of 49
that he was unable to work and his health had been failing
that he had his old injury from the war that he had contacted
the chronic dirreaha at Libby Prison, Virginia at the time of
war, His health had been continuing poor due to rheumatis~
that bothered him especially the winter season.
The last pension was paid to George that he died
December 30, 1902. The cause of death was pneumonia that
he had for six days. He was buried in Tupper Lake, New York.
He was 73 years old.
